Claiming them before leisure does
Josh Beekman, OG, Boston College
- Have yet to see him get bullrushed. Tremendous pass protector, great character guy, hard worker and extremely talented. Good mobility, bends his knees and really knows how to get leverage. Good trap blocker. Great technique in space - bends his knees locks on and drives with his legs. This is not a Davin Joseph... this guy is very polished and for real. Looked amazing in person.
Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers
- Back when Rutgers sucked this kid still worked his ass off. It's hard to give it your all on a horrible team but Leonard did and it has payed off. A good blocker who competes from snap to whistle, what makes Leonard special is his versatility at the FB position. He can block, run and catch all equally well, making him a unique weapon at the FB position. Can give an offensive coordinator more options and must be accounted for on every play, especially in the flat. Has one of the most complete games at the FB position out of any FB prospect in the past 5 perhaps 7 years.
Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
- Not much to say about this guy other than that he is a REAL cornerback. This means - this guy can blanket a receiver. Forget about the ball skills, forget about his stats.... Leon Hall is simply an excellent cover corner who can neutralize his opponent, much like Quentin Jammer. Very polished and technically sound... also a solid wrapup tackler. You can't go wrong with him... he will be a top selection and pound for pound step for step he is the best cornerback in the upcoming draft. If he has one weakness it is going up for the jumpball but other than that... this kid is going to be a top player in the NFL for a long time, even though the media may not give him credit.
Eric Weddle, SS, Utah
- Another versatile and polished player. Can play CB, FS, SS... but he is better sutied as a SS because of his ability to line up over a tight end and shadow him. Hard worker, intelligent player and a great athlete, AJ don't be afraid to draft a white safety. Weddle has outstanding ball skills and puts himself in a position to make plays precisely because of his positioning - he is rarely caught out of position. A threat to take it the distance if he gets his hands on the ball and can also return kicks and punts. Oh yeah, this kid can blitz too, and blitz VERY well.
Patrick Willis, ILB, Ole Miss
- Doesn't get as much exposure because he plays at Ole Miss, but if he were playing for a top notch program this kid would be projected to go in the top 5 next year, even as an ILB. Willis is an outstanding player... everything about him. Great fundamentals - he plays shoulders over hips over knees over toes and wraps up properly when tackling. Knows his assignments in pass coverage and is always in good position. What I love about him is his ability to quickly diagnose a play and pursue the ballcarrier. This guy is a sideline to sideline player, AND THEN SOME. Again, another hard worker and intelligent player. Very similar to Jonathan Vilma of the New York Jets. This guy is a FOOTBALL player.
More to come soon...
